Laser Skin Treatments
At my practice, we utilize the Cutera® laser, which has several different applications to improve skin conditions such as fine lines and wrinkles, excess hair in targeted areas, uneven pigmentation, enlarged pores, skin laxity and vascular lesions. We offer the following Cutera technologies:
- LimeLight (IPL) – Wavelength 520 – 1100 nanometers
- Laser Genesis – Wavelength 1064 nanometers
- Titan – Wavelength 1100 – 1800 nanometers
Using these approaches, we can target and treat multiple skin concerns, without a surgical procedure. These laser treatments are very precise, and can be tailored for each individual’s needs and goals. The primary variable which we can customize for every individual is the choice of wavelength. Furthermore, by combining the various wavelength modalities in the same patient, the best possible result can be obtained.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which lasers work the best?
The answer to this question depends entirely on your aesthetic concerns. In general, those who have concerns with vascular lesions and uneven pigmentation typically are candidates for the LimeLight laser. Those who wish to address aging skin by removing fine lines and wrinkles, redness, and improving the texture of the skin are typically pointed in the direction of the Laser Genesis. For those who wish to improve the laxity of their skin, the Titan laser may be the optimal option. The best way to find out which laser will help with your concerns is to speak with our registered esthetician.
What is IPL?
IPL, also called intense pulsed light, is a non-invasive, laser-like device. The Cutera version of this technology is called LimeLight. IPL technology is similar to true laser technology by emitting light energy; however, IPL works to effectively reach and treat many different skin depths by utilizing several different wavelengths simultaneously. IPL is used to treatment pigment problems, diffuse redness and small broken capillaries.
Does it hurt?
In general, superficial laser treatments are not painful; Laser Genesis and Titan are painless for most people. LimeLight (IPL) is the most likely to cause discomfort – described by some as like an elastic band snapped against the skin. To help aid in patient comfort, there are steps to be taken in order to cool the skin during the duration of the treatment in order to help protect the epidermis (the outermost layer of skin).
What will I feel afterward?
The Cutera systems we use are fairly superficial, which means that your recovery will be mild, with little or no down time. When brown, pigmented lesions have been targeted, these will slowly peel off for up to a week. For some people, there may be some minimal redness or swelling in the first few hours after a LimeLight (IPL) treatment.
