Farewell to my Patients

I would like to thank all the patients who have been such a big part of my life over the last 43 years ago. It’s been an incredible journey and a privilege to care for so many wonderful people. I began my career in 1983 doing trauma and reconstructive surgery at the Vancouver General and UBC Hospitals. In 1989 we opened the Vancouver Plastic Surgery Center for the express purpose of delivering world class aesthetic surgery right here in Vancouver.

Along the way, I have been blessed with outstanding co-workers in the hospital and then in our private surgical clinic which became my second home. I have worked with excellent anesthesiologists, nurses and office staff. With their help, the Vancouver Plastic Surgery Center has provided excellent care for tens of thousands of patients over 4 decades. Our objective was always to provide a safe and comfortable environment where patients could expect best-in-class surgical outcomes. At this point, I can truthfully say – mission accomplished.

Closing my surgical practice marks the end of a career and the beginning of a new chapter in my life.

I am leaving my patients and their records in the capable hands of Dr. Brendon Bitoiu who is taking over my private practice. Dr Bitoiu is a talented young surgeon who is returning to Canada following a highly regarded aesthetic facial surgery fellowship in San Francisco. Going forward, he is committed to carrying on the legacy of surgical excellence we have established over many years. Continuity of care will be guided by my long-term assistant, Tracy Stuby, and by our experienced nurse injector, Susan MacKenzie RN, both of whom will continue in those roles.

Patients interested in surgical or nonsurgical care are encouraged to reach out to Brendon Bitoiu MD FRCSC, Tracy Stuby or Susan MacKenzie RN.

Dr. Bitoiu is a well-qualified plastic surgeon who did his plastic surgery residency in Ottawa. He then completed a fellowship in California specializing in aesthetic surgery of the face. Tracy Stuby has years of experience managing patient care in the office and Susan Mackenzie has extensive experience assisting me in the operating room and doing cosmetic injections for our patients.
