Laser Hair Removal
Removing unwanted hair through traditional methods can be time consuming, inconvenient, and relatively ineffective. Fortunately, laser hair removal technology has become widespread, and can treat a variety of hair and skin colors. Advances in laser technology allow for a quick and simple treatment, with results that are better than ever.
Laser hair removal works because the laser light is attracted to the pigment in the hair follicle. Those with light brown to black hair will generally see the best results because their hair is more pigmented than those with lighter hair. However, any skin or hair color can see results from this treatment.

Further, laser hair removal can treat almost any part of the body including the face, arms, legs, underarms, back, and more. Treatments are, in general, fairly quick and require minimal to no downtime. Lastly, the procedure can target large areas at once for effective hair reduction.
If you are considering laser hair removal, you can request a consultation with one of our registered estheticians. A staff member will contact you to discuss the treatment.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does laser hair removal hurt?
In the past, laser hair removal was relatively painful and took a significant amount of time. But, with today’s lasers, treatment is fast and comfortable. There are cooling agents that work along with the laser during the treatment to ensure that your skin stays protected and cooled.
How is laser hair removal done?
The registered esthetician will use a laser handpiece to apply laser light to the treatment area. The laser pulses, or turns on, while the skin is being cooled to protect the epidermis while destroying the hair follicle.
How does laser hair removal work?
The natural pigment in the hair follicle absorbs the laser energy, disabling the hair follicle and allowing for a permanent reduction of hair in the area.
Can I shave before a laser hair removal treatment?
We recommend that our patients do not shave a few weeks before their treatment in order to see greater improvements in hair reduction. Because the laser works by destroying hair follicles, not shaving or waxing prior to your treatment can help ensure that the laser will find the follicle and destroy it.
How many treatments are necessary?
This is entirely dependent on a variety of factors, including the target area, the patient, and their goals. Most people who are interested in laser hair removal do so to permanently eliminate hair in an unwanted area. Since hair grows in cycles, and only some of the follicles are in the growth phase at the time of treatment, multiple treatments are necessary to achieve significant results. It is estimated that between 4 and 6 treatments are usually necessary, and after that, about an 80% elimination of hair can be achieved.
